Bollywood to the rescue

LEGENDARY actor Amitabh Bachan, Dharmendra and Jeetendra are expected to grace the Bollywood Nite at Stadium Negara on Jan 9.

 

Among the others who have confirmed participation are actors Saif Ali Khan, actress Asha Parekh, Tabbu and Kangana Raut and director Ramesh Sippy.

 

The Bollywood show, which includes dances, songs and comedy sketches, will be chereographed from Mumbai and is a prelude to the South Indian Cinematographers Award which is scheduled at the same venue on Jan 10.

 

The two shows are jointly organised by the Kassim Chin Humanity Foundation and the Malaysian Indian Sports and Cultural Foundation (MISCF), two non-profit non governmental organisations.

 

This is the first time that the SICA Award is being held outside of India. The award aims to promote unity amongst cinematographers and provide welfare assistance to their families.

 

SICA also promotes transfer of knowledge to young and upcoming camera men and technicians.

 

The SICA Award will be telecast on television in India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Singapore and several other countries.

 

In the spirit of the SICA Award, Kassim Chin Humanity Foundation and MISCF will also contribute proceeds of the award show’s ticket sales to deserving recipients of the foundations.

 

Kassim Chin Humanity Foundation aims to set up an Asian International Vocational Centre for children aged 15 years and above from disadvantaged groups. It is part of its initiative to be at the forefront of global literacy by providing basic education to children from impoverished countries.

 

The foundation dedicates its resources to setting up of institutions and facilities in providing education opportunities, healthcare and social services to the poor and needy.

 

MISCF was established in 2010 to develop the impoverished Indian community in sports and cultural sectors which saw a worrying decline in the community’s participation since early 90s.

 

Since its inception, MISCF has organised various sports programmes such as football, athletics and other sports that has seen an encouraging response.

 

The SICA Awards is decided by an eminent panel of judges and is prestigious in the film industry in India. It is managed by the cinematographers who are held in high esteem by the indsutry.

 

The show is managed by Stoneevents and co sponsored by Malaysia Major Events, Marigold, Astro and THR.

FOUNDATION’S OBJECTIVES

One of the main objectives of the Foundation is to dedicate its resources to setting up of institutions and facilities in providing education opportunity, healthcare and social services to the poor and needy regardless of nationality, age, sex, race or religion. We wish to make positive contribution to the society at large and deliver benefits to the people, the business and to the community and to uphold our responsibility to the society with integrity and honesty. The foundation will be the movement that focuses on expanding access to education opportunity in the impoverished country.
